Then there is a different set of the 7 laws of attraction, which differ somewhat from the first set (you'll see the basic principles are the same):

So now that the obvious is out of the way, we can focus on the question: Are there only 7 laws of attraction?
Let's see...
The law of attraction has become popular mainly through the recent cult film called The Secret (often accepted as law of attraction website). It is controversial as are many mystical topics.
It drew my attention because there are some parallels with the disciplines of consciousness, spirituality and quantum physics that we explore on this site.
Before I get ahead of myself let's just look at what is a law of attraction and whether there are only 7 laws of attraction?
It is not required, but some of the law of attraction videos I selected from Youtube below, may give you some background. The last clip is the first 20 minutes from The Secret.

So let's start at the very beginning. What is law of attraction?
The law of attraction in it's simplest form suggest that you can attract to (and will) whatever you place your attention on. Whatever occupies your mind is what you will attract, either positive or negative.
Off course The Secret suggest that the law of attraction relationship with what you want is quite simply a process of:
Like a muscle that gets fit you apparently get fitter and better at this and gratitude in particular is part of this getting fit process. I am not per se opposed to the notion, I just believe that it is not as simple as The Secret makes it out to be. Let's crack open a few thoughts about the 7 laws of attraction:
Firstly there are not 7 laws of attraction. The concept is part of a set of universal laws of attraction or a cosmic law of attraction.
Secondly, there seems to be some relationship between the law of attraction and manifestation or the manifesting process.
What is manifesting?
We'll strictly speaking it is the process of calling something into being. Before it sounds blasphemous, consider looking at the famous double slit experiment on my quantum physics page. It merely suggest bringing into being ONE of an infinite amount of possibilities that exists.
In simple terms. Let's assume the universe only has three particles which can only be connected on a horizontal plane (just live with me). These atoms can then be arranged in only 6 possible configurations, as illustrated by this diagram:

What does quantum physics tell us? Well the most important part to take from it is that the world is not made up from particles but a collection of waves in superposition forming a field of pure potentiality, which some say is the unified field. What does this mean? It means that everything is possible at a quantum physical level as described above.
If anything is possible, something like the law of attraction must be possible. My personal take on applying the so called 7 laws of attraction or just the law of attraction as explained, is a heightened level of consciousness. Increased consciousness seems to play a part in activating the very mechanics of this cosmic law of attraction. (if you have the time, even if you have to come back to it, watch the following series of video clips (from YouTube) illustrating the connection between quantum physics and Consciousness)
All of the above is is centered in the mind, on the thinking level. It seems that the catalyst to the manifesting process that brings the universal laws of attraction into motion is emotion. This video by Gregg Braden on YouTube explains it beautifully - if you watch nothing else, watch this!
One alternative view, which is completely meta-physical and supports Gregg Braden's theory is that offered by Esther and Jerry Hicks (or Abraham which Esther channels). They claim that emotions are the measuring device for our alignment with the universal laws of attraction. For example if you wish to receive something but you are angry all of the time, your vibrations are in conflict with that of goodness and only resonates with angry-like universal elements so that this is all you can receive (this corresponds strongly with the law of allowing in the 7 laws of attraction).
Gregg Braden comes from a completely different source, a more scientifically researched source and suggest similar things. Yet, he has no proof in the formal scientific world (i.e. with experiments etc.). Along comes Michio Kaku with his string theory, which in essence says that the observable universe we live in is just a bunch of vibrations and that creation is the harmony of these vibrations. Hhhm....
Finally, while I have no proof I the above makes me wonder about the issue of resonance. If my thoughts are merely little waves in the vibrational universe and if my thoughts then resonate with other waves of similar harmonics, these wave functions will then collapse (as per quantum physics) to the possibilities in line with my thoughts and intentions or am I barking up the wrong tree?
